If I ran a 10lb propane tank on to the heater ,Bug Buddy model, do you still need to use a filter? I know they recommend it for the 20lb pound tanks?

If you are using a black hose everything I have read is yes you should be. I just got one and I bought one at Peavy Mart. Walley

It is recommended but not totally required. Its fairly easy to clean the element of the heater but for the $5-10 for a filter is worth it.

It was eleven something @ Basspro last week, they had 35 in stock in camping. What I read it's a pressure thing and rubber of the hose - if 10lbs has the same pressure, then it's no different from a big tank. I got one just to be safe

Princess Auto has the hose and filter kit. Just wounder if anyone else noticed this. I hooked my Big Buddy heater to a 20lb bottle to heat my bunkhouse at the the lake(20ftx12ft). When using the heater it seems to give off a smell, not propane but a weird odour?

Didn't notice that. I tried it for the 1st time this weekend, but all I had is that it was hard to light, as if I had no gas, but after I redid connections few times it was just as a small bottle
