Ty, more like 3 or 4 years of record summerkills with whites, plus 3 winters of netting. BEL

The summerkills of whitefish and netting hardly put a dent in whitefish population compared to what the lakes bio-mass holds for whites. Gotta go very deep for the whites if you wanna good day of whites; you dont see them in shallow areas like you would 20-25yrs ago.

Buck, a Bio told me the same thing a couple of years back. He figured the whites have changed their behaviour with the advent of walleye being so numerous. He did think visual fishing for whites would be very effective--go deep and find the depth where they live and eat. I have been GPS'ing numerous deep areas with nearby appealing structures as I really want to get after Pigeon whites this winter. BEL

100% agree.

People say that whites are hard to catch at pigeon and I would somewhat agree... But only because it is so easy to catch pike and walleye.

They are deffinatly a hard fish to get to bite the hook compared to most other fish. Think this applies to most lakes.

That definitely sounds like Pigeon - it took two of us 2 days and over 150 fish to fill 6 keepers under 43cm.

Good luck to both of you. Even deep, I'm not seeing them. I'm sure the biologists were "bang on" with how many they "thought" were in Pigeon. Post back if you get em :)

I wouldn't go anywhere off a road without a truck!!

My car actually does better than a 2WD truck, got good winter tires. As long as there is sufficient clearance the car will be fine. Hence why I'm asking how much snow on the lake. If its too much I will take my 4WD truck...if its too much for the truck I will bring my snowmobile!
