Saturday on Newell

had a good day on the lake today, met some more forum members and caught some fish. Couple of feeding frenzies, but then the fish were off and on the rest of the day. Out of 8 of us all but one I believe caught at least one fish, I managed to ice 5 pike, the biggest was just a 6 pounder, biggest of the day came in at around 10 pounds. The pike in there seem to have iron jaws, I missed at least 10 more, but at least they were biting. Im sure the others will have more to add after they finish their long drives home. Back at it tomorrow for me, hopefully the hogs decide to show this time. Had my first double header of the season, was going to take a pic of my fish and another one took my second bait, but didnt get a hook into it.

Thanks for posting the pics Steve/Wayne, unfortunately I did not have much to show for yesterday. Caught 2 undersized pike, one on smelt and one that took my five of diamonds aggressively. After that, jigging did not help at all. Nice meeting some of the other board members that I have never fished with before. Thanks to all for a great day of fishing...Lets plan the next one soon...

Nice fish and pics guys! I spent yesterday in the SW corner of Newell. Managed 8 pike through the ice and missed a number of others. Nothing of any size but no hammer handles either - all were in that 4-6 lb range.

doing a lot better today hookup wise, 6 out of 7 out for a pic and had the other one in the hole. sitting on 15 inches of ice today waiting for Moby to come by. Ice on Newell varies big time in different areas so check it!!!!!
