I figured this is the easiest way to let all interested parties know the totals.

PW: 70 deer, 23 moose, 0 elk
R1: 84 deer, 17 moose, 2 elk
R2: 57 deer, 8 moose, 0 elk
R3: 68 deer, 15 moose, 2 elk
R4: 56 deer, 11 moose, 0 elk

Totals: 335, 73 moose, 4 elk

Wow. Those are some low numbers IMO. Any breakdown on the Mule Deer / Whitetail numbers, and or Antlered / Antleress, and or age classes of the bucks taken?

Thanks for posting.

I don't have the breakdown to be honest. I think the numbers were pretty good considering the weather, roads, hunter numbers (around 50% turnout for deer and 66% for elk) and 2010 winterkill.

As far as numbers it was the 9th highest total since 1966. Last year there was 217 deer harvested.

Well done Shane. It was a lot of fun this year and a Lot of snow to deal with walking through so thats pretty good numbers in my view.

73 Moose seems like a good overall harvest, anyone have previous Moose harvest #'s????

Moose harvest normally has a 80-90% success rate for the antlered and antlerless tags.

Interesting info, thanks for posting it Shed.

I was there during the ML season in 2008 or 2009, whichever was the first year they had 3 tags p/hunter.

I don't rememer exactly, but I thought there was something like 130 deer taken in just those first 3 days. Maybe I am remembering it wrong.

70 out of 200 Hunters showed up. F&W predicted that 250 deer would be harvested, so they were very pleased with the numbers. The Biologist also commented that 50-60 percent of the deer were killed in the winter/spring of 2010/2011. It was also noted that they're having a hard time getting the Moose population, which is currently roughly 350, to the numbers they want to see which is around 250....possibly more tags?

I believe there were 4 bulls with the biggest 52"...don't think any pictures made it on to here.

For sure no shortage of moose when we flew this week.
