So, we are having a discussion at work today concerning outboards.
Question was, which boat will go faster?
Identical boats, only difference is motors.
1. Two 225 hp outboards
2. One 225 hp outboard
I say the two 225 hp will go faster!
Enjoy!
Assuming the boat is large enough to support 1200lbs of motors of the transom - yeah, I'd say you would be faster with 2 motors with double the thrust ........ This setup would go on a 28'-32' bay boat (like a Mako) or an off shore coast boat (like a Kingfisher).
Now ...... put that on 16ft tinner and you'd still be faster .......... sinking right to the bottom of the lake ..........

Haha, no doubt.
The thing I was always curious about is - one 300hp vs. two 150's ........... same boat, same combined weight of the motors .........
*footnote ....I Realize an average 150 is going to be 500lbs or so and a 300 might be only 800lbs or so ..... so I'd assume the 300 might perform better ........ but I'm no expert in this area.
