im not sure but i think the entire group was only fined the 3k
about half of them were kid though
somthing that the fandw did was they took all the kids and let them release the fish and showed them how to handle em

Personally the $26 at superstore in Edmonton for walleye fillets don't seem so bad compared to $3000+ fine and they probably did not get to keep the walleye:) they won't be doing that again shame to see animals poached:mad0100: btw what do they do with the poached fish if they are dead when they are confiscated

F&W is required to bring the fish to the BBQ
RCMP brings the liquor they confiscate from teens.
CFIA brings the burgers...

So much for wondering about the barbed hook not being charged .

someone said no charges for fishing with barbs but according to this post the group got charged and fined.

Someone know what the real deal is on this subject?

Seems to me the law is pretty plain: NO BARBED HOOKS

Considering this happened before the unenforceable(sp) aspect of the barbless law was brought to light. Phone F&W yourself to get the low down if you don't believe what's on the interwebs.

Now lets not let this become the start of some massive de-rail. A good thing was done in the name of sustainable fisheries and lets keep that topic as the focus here.

At a recent meeting I sat in on with f&w and biologists it is true there is no barbed hooks law. Pinch them or not its up to you now.

There were bigger issues than the group having barbed hooks, it was simply an additional charge that could be laid at that time. Glad to see that justice was served and the offenders were successfully prosecuted.

Nice work reporting them. Did F&W send your cheque in the mail yet?
