521 Cow Elk draw - Late Season

5 of us have late season cow elk draws for WMU 521. Just wondering if anyone can point us in the right direction or if they hunted the earlier seasons, where they might have had some luck. Feel free to PM me. Thanks for any help guys and gals and HAPPY HOLIDAYS !

Mucho elk in 521. Snow is deep, weather is cold. They are in feeding mode. Staying in the wide open well into legal shooting hours. Look at a map and starting phoning landowners adjacent to any of the 3 major rivers in that zone. Or go up for a few days and spend the first day putting miles on the pick-up looking for gobs of elk tracks crossing roads or pawing in fields...won't be ard to find the sign.

Thanks bigjon, I talked to a few locals today in Valleyview and they say that there is a pile of snow there.

You bet! We have a skidoo and a quad with tracks that we are taking. I would say we are prepared for the snow and cold, we just need to find some cows !

You will probably get a few cows for sure tons of snow and good cow numbers better dress warm

They're herded up pretty good. The conditions are right for this kind of hunt. Have at 'er.

I've seen elk everywhere I've gone in 521 the last few days. Dropped mine yesterday. Some were starting to come out around 15:45, but in the morning there were lots of herds around.

The snow is deep, so be prepared. I packed mine out on snowshoes with a toboggan and can sure feel it today.

Find a farmer with an elk problem, and he'll be happy with your solution.

We were out today, found a heard of 55-60 I would guess 700 yards from us when they went into the bush. Then about 15 mins later we heard 5 shot over the course of about 15 mins or so sounds to be a half mile or better away.
Hope they all got one! :angry3: lol

Well we got into Valleyview late last night and headed in the direction where a few fellow AO members suggested to go, and wouldn't you know it we had a little luck and came across a group of elk just before first light. After confirming which ones were cows we settled in and all squeezed off a shot ! After all the smoke cleared we had our cows down ! I never did think it was going to be a one day hunt but sometimes you have to get lucky ! Thanks to everyone who chirped in with their helpers.

Good for you, where did you end up ?
We were south of Snipe Lake Mon - Weds this week and saw only moose.
Deep snow too, hard to get around.
