caught some fish. this is one of them. could someone tell me what's wrong? got attached or some sort of disease? the fish is really thin comparing with other healthy ones. looks like just bit by others. should I report this to F&W?

I think he's been in a fight. Was probably just getting over it and was not eating well.

I have seen some big pretty nasty wounds on smaller pike like that - you can almost make out the shape of the big girls jaw on that poor bugger.

Did he taste any different than the other fish you caught?

I never tried. I don't think I will eat it.

You kept it it with the intention of not eating it? Did I read that right?

That's limphosarcoma (excuse the spelling) its common in pike species. Don't eat it but don't leave them on the ice either. They can recover from it. Let the fish bio's in your area know about it though.

I cant really tell with all the snow on it. if it is my local biologist told me they only have a 1 % recovery rate, and they arent fit to eat for people or animals.

I Only do c&r on this lake after I caught the first pike that looked like this. My fishing buddy said its a pike disease. I just not very sure if I should report this to f&w. So, I took a pic preparing to send it to the conservation officer after I get some sort of opinion from this forum. Looks like most of people here don't know anything either.

Let me know if you are still confused.
