what a great pic. congrats. been trying to find an area where they might be for 2 years and despite all the supposed "investations" of wild boars that were reported a couple years ago have yet to see one. haven't given up though and hope to one day bag one.

How does one go about hunting these? Where are they commonly found in Alberta? (Just wondering, not lookin for a place to hunt)

Ya, I'm curious too. Not looking for your secret hiding spot or anything..just wondering if this was a bought hunt from "Hog wild" or just a wild boar roaming around? I'd like to go out as well, but the Mayerthorpe hunt seems like the only option. I see that you used a rifle though, and they advertise archery hunts.... so I'm guessing that you got it elsewhere. Nice boar, and let us know how the meat is!:)

Yeah Hog Wild's archery only. As for finding them, either knowing the right people or putting a lot of miles on the truck.

My nephew lived up in Eaglesham AB for a few years and was lucky to take a couple of Hogs south of the community. And there are a few around Lemsford ferry in Sask although they havent seen any for a couple years the sign is still there

i also am interested in how to go about hunting these.i didnt know if they were legal as there is nothing in the reg about a licence.i also wasn't sure how they would taste as they are wild and if anything like a domestic older boar i would not think they would be good eating.congrats on the hunt and merry xmas

Can't speak for the OP, but mine is a free range feral pig.

It was a gift from the wife. I spent days and days looking for Derek pigs up by sundre/ water valley where my friends bagged a couple last year but no luck. Over 600 in gas it gets a bit expensive so I guided hunt did the trick. Savage encounters.
