a friend of mine had some mukluks that were brain tanned years ago...everytime he wore them, he felt ill. He found out later that it was some wierd reaction from the brain tanning method.... strange. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

I've done about 5 deer, a couple elk and half way through a moose using brain tanning. It's lots of work but Actually quite fun. Go to braintan.com for all your answers.
