get the platinum navionics card for the area of north america that you are going to fish.

they are easy to use and work good if you fish lakes that are actually on the card. canada doesnt have the quality of maps that they have for the states.

im still trying to figure out how to transfer the government depth maps that are free online into my lowrance hds 8.

The platinum maps are good. Don't try to copy the card, you will be sorry

Pretty straight forward I found ........... what specifically are you having trouble with? I'm sure a few of us on here would be happy to help.

Never used one like it before, just didn't want to buy lame software.
Was looking at the navionics last night, where can you buy this stuff?
Do you have to buy it off the website or will the select few stores carry it?

each Navionics chips will have a list of the lakes - make sure the lakes you want on on that particular chip.

It will give you general contours and general depths - its an improvement over the basic map on your fish finder.

Was looking at the platinum one there and it seems to have most on there, enough to keep me happy any way.

You might want to check navionics site before you open it. Some have very few Alberta lakes. Thinkin the reg one is like that.

Thanks for the headsup. I actually got the the Hotspot "Premium" with all the Alberta lakes available at this time. Checked out the list and it's not that bad.

Good to here, some have bought maps and found to be not what they expected.
