Any thing you've tried to get the sled easier to pull?

That's pretty cool. I got a couple pairs of old wooden x-country skis, might have to give it a try!

Cover the bottom with puck board. Sled will last forever and slide very easy. If you want a lethal level of sliptivity spray with silicone spray and its like a national lampoon quality sled

UHMW = Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene a type of plastic used in industry to provide a surface with low friction to make things slide easier. Buy a small sheet of it, and cut it into 2 skies/skids, drill some bolt holes and a recess for the bolt head and washer and you're set.

That'll work great, I'm going to pick some up. Thanks for the tips

Wonder if UHMW can be bought in strips 1/2-3/4'' thick 3-4 inches wide, I need some for the bottom of my shack

Thickness you can get and I'm sure that they'll cut it as wide as you want. As far as I know it comes in sheets like plywood.

I use it all the time at work, and its roughly $200 a sheet (4'x10'x1/4"). You won't need 1/2 or 3/4", I highly doubt you'd ever wear out 1/4" UHMW, unless your dragging it down a gravel road...

UFA has it for about 70 bux a sheet. 4X8X1/4 I believe.
You may have to ask for Puckboard.

I have like 6 pairs of skis sitting in my garage rafters so if anyone wants a set get a hold of me and come pick a set up.

If you want to drop a six pack off I wouldn't turn them away.

Anyone know where a guy can get puckboard around Edmonton for less than 100 bucks. Only place I found it is at Windsor plywood and it was $97 for a 4X8 sheet...:(. Considering the otter sled I bought was $130 I'd rather not put another 100 bucks into this sled.

UFA carries it 4x8x1/4 for about 60.00

I have lots of UHMW PE strips if anyone needs some, I own a company that makes plastic snowmobile skis and it is used for the ski skins.

I have a couple skies I got for free when I was planning to build my own sled. Since then I bought a Jet Sled and now I wonder if attaching those with some clearance would make it easier to pull?
Not sure if it would and don't want to mess up something that works...
Did somebody try this?

Sexy! you might want to add some narrow strips on top so that it tracks well in the snow and doesnt slip all over the place.
