Not enough diesel fuel refining here supposidly...
Sasol was all set to put a nat gas to diesel plant at Ft. Sask... had the site all ready to go then they found out how expensive it is to build anything here because of labor rates, canceled that and decided Louisana was cheaper. Sorry, no cheap fuel for your oil burners anytime soon. (me included :( )

Diesel and heating oil are basically the same and the east coast of Can and the US use lots of it in winter. Same story every year.

Gasoline still $103.99 in Brooks. GRRRrrrrr!! and thats after dropping 6 cents last Thursday. I remember being in Rocky Mountain House at Christmas (Dec 22 to be exact) and gasoline was $0.999 back then.

Do you guys know how many litres of fuel go up north to the diamond mines?

I had heard back a number of years ago, that each mine needed to store 1 million liters per month, in order to keep there operations running. Diesel is used to power there generators for electricity, to power the boilers for heat and to run the equipment.

This would have been in 2001 or so. I imagine that with mine expansion and new mines added, and exploration, that this number may even be higher then what I was told then.
