I am going to custom build a very lightweight aluminum fishing shack, and before I go buy aluminum from Edmonton I thought I would ask in here. I am looking for anything I can find; square or rectangular tube, angle, channel, and very thin sheeting.

If you know of some for sale, please let me know. I am going to need lots.

Please pm if you can help.

Tia!

You can have all my empty beer cans from the last few months....... there is probably enough there to build the whole thing!!

I would suggest the material that is used sometime to build service rig doghouses. It is sheet aluminum wrapped around styrofoam. Might even be used in overhead doors.

For sheathing your best bet is probably the steel building stuff. Won't break the bank. Too light and you'll be looking for it down wind anyway. Aluminum to cover my 8 ft. camper was over a grand. :D

How much sheeting do you need, and in what sizes?

If you dont mind using peices about 2ft x 6ft, i would look into any door manufacturers. The ones that build patio or french doors. They are solid doors when they cut out for windows. Probably get the cut-outs for free...double sided with insulation inbetween.

Could probably use some "I" channel for screwing them together...

What about tin siding off of a wellsite trailer?
Any rental outfit with shacks will have a ton of used stuff.
We change ours if they get scratched or even small dents.
Try Apex in Lloyd.

Are you welding the thing or going the nutz and boltz way?

I think tin roofing would be cheaper for the outsides though.

Heh funny, I just talked to a firefighter buddy that works at Apex! Not 10 minutes ago!

Tig welding, 3m taping the sheeting to the frame with pop rivet strengtheners.
I may use tin roofing up top, still in planning stages though.

Damn hobbies...l

My father in law owns a scrapyard business in Bonnyville. I could check with him to see if he has any aluminum kicking around
