did you try the search function?

there is everything you could possibly learn about pcr already data based on this site.

just look through the posts on pcr from the last 2 weeks alone and you will find what, where, how, when and the ice thickness

have fun, hopefully they're biting and there are some burbs left in there

Was there tonight. Lines were in the water at 8:30 ish and fished until 11. Caught 9 Walleye between two of us. We were hoping for some burbs but nodda one. A friendly fella dropped by my shack around 10:30. Said he was there for a few hours and only landed 1 Walleye as well. I know the burbs are there but they weren't biting tonight. Good Luck!

Hey caper, that was me. I didn't think to ask if you were an AO member until after I left and got thinking about posting on our non-success. Ya, slooowwww night there as you said. Oh well, still better than a night on the couch in front of the tube; better luck next time.

I've heard conflicting info about that mercury warning. Some say burbs are okay to eat, but toss the walleyes back. Others say go ahead and keep and eat a few walleyes. Which is it?

You best not be eating any walleyes out of PCR unless you want to have a long unpleasant chat with F&W.

Right. Thank you. Let me rephrase. If there is a merc warning, why can you eat the burbs and not the eyes? I follow the rules. I'm not concerned about that. I'm trying to figure out why one species would be impacted more than another by the mercury.

Well it was nice to meet ya Boomstick, anytime you see my shack feel free to drop over. And I couldn't agree more, way better Than sitting on the couch! We had a good time, it was the smaller guys (sitting in front of the door) first time ice fishing in Alberta and he wants to go again. So a successful night!

Walleye being a top predator will accumulate far more heavy metals then burbot which are scavengers. Think DDT and Falcons, kills the bottom of the food chain, and poisons the top.

The study on Hg in PCR is available online.

Anyone that is interested can read it and find out for themselves.

The link to it has been posted a few times in past PCR threads.

Eat the fish, just not everyday.
