Always caught some decent pike out at ridge on the west side of the lake. Also, I've heard that park lake and of all places picture butte lake the pike are nailing anything you throw at them. As for myself, I went out to Keho the other night and nailed a 14 pounder, Yes I know there are bigger ones in that lake.

There are both boat launches at both lakes. I seriously didn't know clear lake had pike in it. Never even really attempted to go up there and try it. It seems like a nice lake. I don't have a boat but, I know that shore casting shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the info... The launch at Pine Coulee is pretty good. Hopefully the one at Clear Lake will be just as fine. Perhaps I'll get out tomorrow or Saturday. It's time to get the boat wet !

Cheers,

/FC

IF..there are any browns left in there they have got to be huge! There are a lot of smaller lakes around that don't see a lot of fishermen- Hays, Rolling Hills, 12-mile, Tilley-B, Yellow, Cowoki and Grantham to name a few. I am not going to tell all but have a look in the Alberta Fishing Guide of Mitchell's..grab a fishing buddy or two and do some exploring. Now is a good month to hit these lakes as most are on the shallow side and can weed up by mid-summer. Most have launch sites for boats but you'll need a truck to get to them.

Nicholas Sheran is the lake on the westside. Everybody says there are browns in it, but i've never seen any come out, and i've lived within walking distance of that lake nearly all my life. If you want trout, i'm told the lake in riverstone is great. I've never been skunked going after pike at Nicholas Sheran, not so good from shore, but i have a 10' inflatable, and trolling a spinner works great.

I was out at Park lake in the rain a little over a week ago, and my buddy and I pulled out 28 pike in just over three hours trolling floating minnows :D Great time, although we probably shouln't have been on the water in that storm

well I'll go over there this AM while I wait for the girls to wake up to go to Ridge and walleye fish. If I catch a brown on the westside I'll be sure to snap a photo

Nicholas Sheran - Unbelievable fishing 2 weeks after the ice melts. Ive caught tons of 4-5lb brown trout and brook trout. My brother caught a 7lb Brown and I have the picture to prove it. Unfortunately this is the only good time to fish. Lakes around the city tend to suck. I fished park late quite a bit last year, and its all small pike. Relatively slow.

For pike Keho and Yellow lakes are my fav.
Nicholas Sherine on the west side of Lethbridge does have some browns, but not many. They are pretty picky, but I guess thats why they are so big.
Riverstone has some small rainbows, also pike and perch. But for such a small pond it gets fished pretty heavy.

Iv been all over in the past month and I thought maybe anyone interested might like to know how some of the lakes around here are doing.

My name. Is Daniel. I fish with a friend and my fiance so we cover a lot of ground in a day at a lake.

I will start with the 2 places I visited with my better half and 17 month old son today and go from there.

Nicholas Sheran Park Pond - visit around 3 times a week when I'm off work. I'm a HD mechanic so I'm to tired to drive 30 mins to an hour after work.
The Pike is this small west lethbridge pond are very hungry this year the 3 of us and my son try a few different locations in a months with maybe between 2-4 visits a week we have landed anaverage or 15-20 pike each visit using smelts and leeches. We figure well over a hundred probably close to 200 maybe higher. The smallest was maybe 9" and biggest was 33" and weighed about 13lb and almost 12lb The browns are still in there as well as the brookies. In the month we caught 2 brookies and one was about 3lb and the other 4lb. Right as of recent the perch a very active as well had maybe 30 go after our hook when most of smelt fell off and not from personal experience but I watched one person fight a 28lb grass carp in using bread as bait. So this year 2012 nicholas sheran the pike are hungry and trout are there but very finickey the perch can be seen in schools containing 30-40 in shallow parts near the bridge.

Picture Butte Resivoir
Not biting very well. Very windy today
Landed to decent fish maybe 9-10lb for both

University of Lethbridge Pond
Gone twice and landed a 12"lb pike and friend landed a lunker 15lb also caught loads of smaller 8" - 22" pike.

Keho lake.
Went last weekend for 4 hours I landed 9 fish 8 pike 1 walleye biggest pike was 21lb smallest was 4lb annd caught by outlett canal the walleye was about 8-9lb

Friend landed 13 fish 9 pike and 4 walleye. Biggest pike was 17 pound and smallest was 6. His biggest waleye was 12lb and smallest was maybe 2.5lb

Fiance landed 5 all were pike smallest was 2lb biggest was 11lb

Park Lake
As active as nicholas shern we went early on a saturday and between the 3 of use we landed 76 pike in just under 5 hours using smelts smallest was maybe 3-4lb and biggest was 19lb friend miles landed 1 walleye and we caught 9 perch that day.

Mc.Vinnie Reservoir
As usual its a busy place was stocked with 3000 rainbows on may 18, 2012
On a sunday we pulled out around 15 trout before noon on blue/yellow powerbait with a p-rig and also had luck on pink popcorn. Most we only 11-15" keepers mostly but had 2 bigger ones they were 16" and 19" one was 4.5lb the other 6lb

Mc.quillan - dead reservoir to many scuds in that pond there are large ones I pulled a. 22" almost 9lb rainbow last year but they act like tyrell lake fish to much natural food, to over fished and not interested in what your throwing.

CPR lake - pike are nailing anything u throw at them. Jigs, smelts with hook and bobber, leeches and on occasion worms. Didn't land anything over 9lb

Chin Lake by the east end near the chute
Large fish are nailing smelts with a bobber drifting also loving spinners we only went once and landed about 20 fish in 5 hours biggest was 18lb

Police lake
Very active right now fish are nailing spinners and fly lots of action no really really big fish caught there yet largest was maybe. 19"

Kennex coulee
Biting very nice on pink popcorn or blue/yellow powerbait on a p-rig

Henderson lake
Pike very active and agressive. (Just from what I have heard)

Lake mac greggor
Very very active in past 2 weeks

Payne lake
We pulled many nice healthy trout of here few weeks ago

Sugar factory lake
Pike are very active we pulled many many 10lb and bigger fish out of there recently

Grassy lake
Hot lake right now we pulled 40 perch and 35 pike in 1 day largest pike was 22lb

Can anyone update any other lake in southern alberta and around lethbridge?

Danny - fishing for 15 years - cummins HD mechanic 6 years :)
