At about 2:00 some guys were leaving and stopped to pick up some cans from another group and started swearing and cursing about how they hate (not the actual words) people who leave garbage on the lake and what they would do if they got their hands on them was kinda fun to listen to:)

We were fishing at Clear today as well, heard those guys making a big deal about something they picked up off the ice also. We were just a bit off to the right of the park access to the lake. Lost 6 and then landed one. The pike seem to be smarter in that lake lol, instead of inhaling our herring they were just barely nibbling at it. A few times our bait was gone without the rods even moving

I fished PCR yesterday and the ice there is so gross. People leave so much junk there. I got set up in my tent and went to check with another group to see how they were doing. It turned out that they were just driving away after packing up. I checked their site and they had kicked ice into their holes and I pulled the following list of trash from their holes:

7 beer cans
1 large bag of smelts
1 small bag of smelts
1 pop can
1 broken plastic scoop
1 random bag
Cigarette butts everywhere.

Why is it funny that people leave garbage on the ice? I think it is horrible.

x2 on Jacenbeers' experience.

People don't realize that the garbage left on the ice is going to pollute the waters, and decrease the fish productivity of that site. So if you are hoping for a better round 2 on that lake in the future, leave the site cleaner than when you found it.

Arrgggh.

I hate trash.

Almost no one fishes at the ghost arm. The 2 groups that did left plastic cigar tips, cig butts, wine corks, random plastic wrap.

I was choked.

x3. There is no bloody excuse why people shouldn't and can't leave a 20 by 20 square of natures finest in the exact condition it was before they got there, sometimes maybe even in better condition then it was before they got there...in those cases....kudos to them!

@Jacenbeers - Maybe it was the trash which drove off, heh?

@Fishingaddict - Sorry to have gone sideways on your thread. Back on track, any luck yet on the picture? Woulda luv to see it.

Blairh - We had some decent action. Lost 6 and ended up getting a 28 incher on the ice around 5 and that was all she wrote. Buddy laid one of my rods down on the ice and as we were talking we saw the rod start to move across the ice. I ran and dove and missed it and down the hole she went.Figured it was a long shot but i dove again and jammed my arm into the water up to my shoulder and managed to grab the bottom end of the handle and pull er back up. Fish was still on but he ended up making off with the herring!

This may be a really dumb question, but I've read all kinds of references to "PCR" but being new to the forum, I have no clue what PCR is. Could someone please enlighten me? Thanks.:sign0161:

went out to pcr today. open water under the bridge. fished by the boat launch, the ice was 20+ inches. fairly clear ice, lots of old cracks and small air bubbles and such. fishing was a bit slow, couple pike, and around ten walleye for the day. pretty slow untill 1:30, was decent for a bit then backed off till dusk. was hoping to catch a burbot or two. i will try my luck another time...

Gonna be a great pike fishery in the next few years.

You can see the odd big one near the dock in the summer, hooked one on a pickeral rig north of the bridge. Got off at the shore, I'd say around 13 lbs +, not a wall mounter but fun to catch when its dinky walleye.

Had some 40+ inchers chase my eyes there.

Had a decent pike try to eat a walleye off my line, could only see an inch or so of its tail sticking out of its mouth, was pretty awesome on the ice rod.
Should be some biggins in there, no shortage of food for em.

was back out on pcr last night. just thought i would pass along that although there is still around 18-20'' of clear ice it is starting to drill soft. not like it was a few weekends ago. it wasnt untill after 8 at night that you coulld hear the ice making its noise as well.... just thought id pass that along before anyone wants to drive on it
