Has anyone fly fished in Bahamas? I'm headed down there next month and was wondering where and what I should fish? (presumably bone fish)
Im going to be staying near Nassau.
Is a permit required? Any tips/advice?
Any input is appreciated!!
Cheers

Flyfishing options near Nassau are somewhat limited. There are some bonefish along the south shore of New Providence, but they are not easy bones to find on your own. There are a couple bonefish guide services in Nassau but they are pricey.

Many anglers fly over to nearby Andros Island early in the morning where they can hire a guide, fish for 8 hours and then fly back to Nassau in the late afternoon. This can probably be done for less mony than hiring one of the Nassau guides and there is far better bonefishing on Andros.

Do you know what kind of price for the guide and transportation or even a website would be awesome! Thanks man!

While I will be making my 12th bonefishing trip to the Bahamas in a few weeks, I haven't fished Andros in a number of years so I cannot give you any current guide recommendations...You could google up Phillip Rolle in Nicholstown, but to be honest, I would be surprised if he still does daytrips. No matter, there are lots of other independent guides on Andros. For more current independent guide recommendations, you can try these bulletin boards http://www.danblanton.com/bulletin.php or http://www.reel-time.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=7

I would expect to see day rates (8 hours) from $400 - $500 on Andros now.

I know Western Air flies to a couple points on Andros http://www.westernairbahamas.com/ I would expect to see return flights to Nassau in the $100 - $150 range.
