I know you guys were talking about footwear and all butI didn't want to bring up a old dead thread.

But I wanted to tell you about these boots I have bought about 3 months ago.
These Irish setter MOON boots (http://hunt.irishsetterboots.com/irishsetter-shoe/4889-irish-setter/4889-irish-setter-mens-snow-claw-xt-blackblack) are unbelievable, Just like it says in the caption at the top right on their website. "This is a snow boot on steroids." with 2000 Grams of thinsulate. I'm incredibly warm.

Just wanted to share this with you guys.
Also if you are planning on getting a pair go one too two sizes bigger.

Cheers

How would they be after a day in flood water?

How would they be after a day in flood water?

Fully water proof, They have a Gore-tex liner witch makes them 100% water proof.

I had them up to 8 inches and my feet were warm and dry.

where did you get it?

I had to specially order them in.
I contacted Irish setter and they pointed me to red wing shoes.
They ordered it for me and were great.

I believe I paid $265 after their discount.

Not every one can wear goretex on there feet. If worn on a unseasonably warm day gore fabric can cause skin to dry out and crack. Good looking boots if a bit rich .

I have had Good Sorel's and Baffins, but my feet would still get wet and cold after drilling a bunch of holes or walking in washwater.

Then a couple years ago my father gave me a pair of muck boots. At first I was like what are these looks like some sort of glorified rubber boot. Well let me tell you these things are amazing. I highly recommend them. Feet have never been wet or cold in them again. Super light, super warm and 100% waterproof. I think they are around 150 Bucks. I'll never wear those other types of boots again, these are the way to go!

These are the best boots i have ever owned. They feel like your walking on pillows. Keep your feet dry in flood water and warm when its -30

i have -100c baffins but I found that if I stand on a small piece of styrofoam sm insulation (or put my feet on it while sitting) my feet stay WAY warmer than standing on the ice.
note: the styrofoam breaks very easily so care is needed. Maybe some sort of wrapping would help.

very interesting thread. may i add that the socks you wear are very important also. don't start with your reg. cotton ones that absorb sweat and don't "breathe". comfortable warm clothes (esp. footwear) is VERY important for any outdoor activity.

Arctic Sport Muck Boots.

They can't be beat. Comfy at -20 and great for slopping around in flood water.
I am on my second pair (first pair lasted 5 years-still have them for a spare).

Basically start wearing them for November hunting and stick with them through to April.

I'm trying to decide between the Sorel Intrepid Explorer -100s or the Cabelas Saskatchewan Pack Boot. Any feedback will help. I'm leaning toward the Sorels. The Cabelas boots are probably better but they have metal clips for the laceup system and history has shown me that this can really scratch the crap out of the tunnel on my sled. I've always had a problem with my feet getting cold so I need some good boots. Thanks in advance for any info.

To keep right side up and avoid cracking my head on the ice I wear a stretch over the boot rubber thing with studs. I think I got a pair from princess auto.

Good advice to wear studs. I always have some on also.

I have a pair of the Polar Extreme boots from Baffin, rated to -100, keep my feet very warm and dry, unless snow gets down the top of them. They're work boots, so the reinforced toe and sole make them a bit on the heavy side, but the exercise is needed for the most part.

Kamik Hunters. Good to -40 C, 100% water proof, great tread but I wear ice cleats too, and the best part.....

$40!

I bought a pair of Baffin Titan's this year. They work awesome for ice fishing. -100 and my feet are warm in the cold Manitoba weather. Once the holes are drilled and my pop up set up I switch to something lighter.....my crocks. My buddies razz me about wearing them.

First year I've owned a set of Klim sledding boots and wow. Best ice fishing boot ever. -30 with 6" flood water and nothing for cold or water. Nice thing with the Klim boots is after a long day of what ever your doing your socks are still dry, half the time my feet sweat so much thats where my feet get wet but not any more. I think I paid $230 for mine.

Bought a pair of -100 Baffin rubber boots. Pretty basic, and not great if I'm doing a lot of hiking but I bought them specifically for ice fishing. I bought them one size bigger as well. That way I can wear a polypropylene sock underneath a wool sock. Keeping the wetness off your skin is the most important thing regardless of how good your boots are.

Paid somewhere between 100-150

Agreed, One of the most important thing a person should be aware of is proper socks.
You can have the warmest boots but if you don't have decent socks, Your going to have cold feet for the rest of the day.

I wear a liner sock with cool max and then my Marina wool socks. No chance for my feet to getting wet and cold.

Have to agree. The Neos boots are back packable and super light. Wear them with T-Max socks and my regular foot wear. Alot of the military guys round here are using them.
