Had my wallet with my WIN card stolen a couple of months back and I finally recieved my new card/number last week. Well I just finished this years special draws on line and see that none of my past 6 years worth of draw priority points had been forwarded to my new card.:mad3: A phone call to the powers that be told me that when a new card is issued under those circumstances all past priorty are gone.:rolleye2: Should have been good for a Moose draw this year too.:mad2:

That doesn't make sense....what was their reasoning for that? I would push the issue harder, you can't give up 6yrs worth of building on your priorities.

That sounds kind of fishy to me. When they replace your card, don't they give you the same number since they have all of your info (name, date of birth, address, etc.) on file? I did my draws on line today and I noticed that if I clicked on the field that show "priority," mine all showed "0", but if I looked "priority history", they showed my priority level. Maybe try that? It seems like BS that you've lost your priority level because you needed to replace your WIN card. I'd complain if that was the case.

I believe that once you submit your draws that everything displays as "0" until the draws are completed then the priority number is reset for your draws based on the results of the draws.

I just took a look at the AlbertaRELM site under "Current Draw Priorities". At the bottom of the page it says: "Current year priorities are set after the draw has been run"
For the draws I submitted I see no number. For those that I didn't apply for but have priority on I saw the correct number.

Not if it is stolen. They give you a new number so they know it is you using it, not the thief.

It just seems unfair that Glockster should lose his priority points because some dirtbag stole his card... you'd think the government would transfer his priority points over to his new WIN #. I wonder if he couldn't make that request with someone? It seems like BS that he should be penalized for being the victim of a crime.

Just off the phone again with sustainable resources. And in the case of a stolen card everything related to that card is apparently null and void. Too bad credit cards arent the same way. Anyway I might be able to have the old priority points applied to the new card, but will have to wait until next week to talk to the right person as they are gone for the weekend.:tongue2:

Wow, didn't know that.
Sort of makes sense, but then again it doesn't.
Should hope the theif uses it then LOL, would be easy the track him.
because he has better draws than you now LOL
You would have been better off to just keep your # active, because with this new system, who really need their actual card anymore ? Just the # right ?
I haven't seen my wifes WIN card in 10 years, but I know all our #'s.

I agree. All priorities and info should transfer automatically to the new card. A guy shouldn't have to waste his time on the phone.

I had my wallet stolen 3 years ago and I kept my priority on all my draws. I have priority 9 on bull elk, 6 on antelope, 6 on grizzly bear which is useless. I kept my old win number as well. All I did was buy a replacement card for $4.00 and they sent it to me in the mail.

The main reason I had the card terminated is the manager of one of the liscence offfices told me that a WIN card with any other type of ID is enough to have a new Alberta Drivers Liscence issued, new DL with new photo, new address....way to much potential credit loss there. Certainly never thought about loss of draw priortiy though.

Someone fed you a line of crap. I lost my card out in the bush a couple of years back. They reissued a new WIN card, with the same number. No impact to my draw priorities.
There is no reason they need to give you a completely new number. All they have to do is issue a new card. Call back and kick up the dust.
Unfortunately you probably ended up speaking with a call centre employee. Much like the Firearms office, where only a select few are actually trained in the respective laws and protocols.

:tongue2: Raised you are wise in the ways of the world my friend, pretty smart for an old guy..... you need to buy more beer......
My WIN card recently expired. Being the computer genious that I am I accidentally purchased a new card instead of renewing my old one on line. I e-mailed them describing that I no longer had any draw priorities. They e-mailed back with a phone number to call. I called and my old draw priorities will be linked to the new number within a couple of days. Hope this helps!

I also had my wallet stolen a few years ago. Reported it as such and was issued a new # and all my priorities were transfered over.
