Hunting draws this year???

Well who else is strategically planning already?

I am a P5 for bull moose. Wanting a decent one but not needing a 65" critter. Need to do some research here. Never hunted for bulls before so I need to get out and scout.

Also a P4 for Mule buck. The last few years in the zone I want, I would be guaranteed with a 4. Not sure how this whole archery draw will affect these numbers.

I don't want to draw both so I need to figure this out soon.

P7 for Trophy Antelope so not enough points for them yet.

P5 for turkeys but going to Kansas in May so I'll leave that one for now.

What are the plans for you guys this year?

Should be a shoe in for my mule buck, and in my zone for moose i am guessing another 4 years, so i am looking forward to that one, and i better see a bull to.:sHa_shakeshout:

Been sluffing off my cow elk draw hoping for a nice bull.
But after only cow encounters year after year, I guess I should put in for it, with a P6 in WMU 360.

You know the minute you draw a cow tag what happens...you'll go hunting and will have a cranker bull at 60 yrds broadside....at least thats what would happen to me.:sHa_sarcasticlol:

I should be good to go on turkey but I don't know the country very good down that way so might 999. archery antelope should be a go which is always fun. Might be getting non trophy sheep just to try an arrow one.

I'll be putting in for Mule Doe in 526 and Antlerless Elk in 522. I'll put in for a bull Moose but I know I won't get it.

Unless something drastic happens, will be getting a bull moose tag for the Whitecourt area. A good friend has a cabin way back in the bush, in the middle of some prime habitat - should be a good week :-) Also have decent odds of a mule buck this year as well.

Was a 10 this year for antelope so hopefully next year. Might get cow elk in 306.

I know where I'm NOT going next year and that's 336 just west of the bow zone. About 10 hunters per qtr section on the crown land the first week and deer numbers are down. Going to put in for bull moose in the manning area this year and give that a try. Probably have to wait at least another 5 years for antelope since I was drawn in 2010. Going to put in for cow elk around Bonanza.

Other areas to try around here are 522 or 527, too. Got 2 Moose within 200 yards of each other in 527 last year. Never been drawn for Moose in 522 but every time we're Elk hunting there, we see quite a lot of Moose, though less this year than 2 years ago.

I'm a P4 on muley buck which in my zone would normally be a sure draw , but with all the changes coming this fall in that category we'll have to keep our fingers crossed .

Im at year 8 applying for 338 bull moose and 8 year for antelope hopefully this will be it lol

Hunting buddy is priority 10 for bull moose hes thinking of pulling it in camp wainwright but we will see he wants to try for a fifty"er any other suggestions

I'll keep you posted. I'm still not sure that I will pull the tag. Too bad there isn't more in your neck of the woods. All the driving I did last fall and I saw 2!

I am P2 for antlerless moose and the zone I want to hunt in had a 100% draw success rate in 2012 for P2 so it is likely that I will be trying to cash in on that draw. I will also be trying to get a whitetail buck in 406. I am on P2 for that.

Wow, p 2 gives you an 89% chance on bull moose where I hunt (528)

We are going to try 534 this year, so the draw doesn't really apply to us, we can all get a tag. The last number of years the guys that hunt moose in our area have been building bridges and making detours. I have been against it and out group has done little, but the other two groups that hunt it regularly have. What used to be as much as a 4 hour quad ride, is now as little as 75 min. As a result, it is loaded with hunters and we can't stomach it.

A friend is a trapper in 534, he has given us some pointers. We will go up a couple of times this summer and stay in his cabin to scout things out.
