Well I finally broke down and got myself a new phone. The old flip phone of mine finally gave up the ghost and I now have an Iphone 5.

What app do you guys use for lakes?

Topographic maps Canada.. Very useful tool if you want to find the easiest way to scout for a new lake

UFindFish works like a GPS, you can create and label hotspots or search nearby lakes for them.

best advice is dont use the regular iphone maps app download google maps and google earth. allow you to save favourite locations and give a great detailed map!!!

Hi Rob,

I also picked up the new iPhone, and as with everyone else... the battery life is pretty lackluster.

You can save huge battery life by turning off "location services". Having them all turned on is just a convenient way of tracking everywhere you go!

If you open an app which you need location services, like maps for example, the app will immediately prompt you to turn on location services for that app to work properly.

This way I have at least doubled my battery life.

I don't know much about iPhones but if it's LTE network capable you shouldn't use that setting outside of big cities. LTE is a faster network than 4G but it's not available outside Calgary/Edmonton. You phone will kill the battery trying to find it when it's not there, set your network to GSM/WCDMA Auto and it'll help.
