I'm heading out coyote hunting this morning but it's pretty windy. Just wonder what your thoughts are about calling in the wind. Is it an advantage or not?

Your scent funnel is narrower, your calls travel further, the wind can mask small movments.
My thoughts.

I agree with some of what you say, but I don't believe the wind carries sounds further, if anything it muffles sounds and I have to call louder in windy conditions to be heard.

Get down low in a creek bed or bottom side of a hill somewhere. Those dogs wont be out in the wind either.

I never thought of getting in a creek bed but think I'll try that this morning.

In my opinion you are already late for a morning hunt.Coyotes can be called in windy conditions but Ive learned to not waste time calling once the wind hits 15 or so kph.

Well went out this morning and on the first stand nothing. The second stand was on a 1/2 section hay field. Put the foxpro about 50yds up wind and went back to the fence line. Turned on the call and let it squawk for a couple minutes. About two minutes later two yotes come at a full run across the field for full half mile. Got one missed the second one. First time I've called in wind that strong but looks like it works.
