A month or so back on one of these threads I read that SRD maybe taking away the General Archery Mule Deer tags. Does anyone have an update on this topic?

Does anyone know which WMU's and how is it going to work for archery MD draw? This really sucks....they should leave MD hunting only for AB residents, just like they do in Sask and not allow non-residents/outfitters to hunt MD in AB. Seems to be working out in Sask. I also agree with only issuing anterless landowners tags. Every year it's something, just like George Orwell's 1984 novel. :mad0030:

Is there any hard proof of them taking away or reducing the tags? Or is it all still rumors and we will just have to wait until the draw booklets come out?

A MD Archery Draw is not written in legalese yet, but that is in proces.


For 2013, archers will need the draw to bowhunt mule deer in the archery season in the following WMUs – This Draw Licence will allow the Licence holder to hunt in both the Archery and General Weapon seasons.

100 WMU Series- 104, 108, 110, 130, 132, 134, 138, 140 and 156

200 WMU Series- 206, 208, 210, 214, 216, 220, 221, 222, 224 and 226

300 WMU series – 300, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, 308 314, 318, 320, 322, 324, 332, 337, 357, 358, 359 and 360

400 WMU Series – 400 and 402

500 WMU Series - 502, 504, 506, 509, 510, 521, 522, 523, 526 and 527


Additionally, the following WMUs will likley be placed on a General Weapon season (Rifle) Draw.

351, 354, 356, 520, 524, 525 and 544

So then I suspect the zones that don't go on draw for archery and remain general archery will be hit a lot harder with general archery hunters leading to over harvest by bowhunters in those zones and them going on draw in the near future. will be interesting too see what effects the draw will have.

Yep if they were going to do it they should have done it province wide. Just like the over harvest of whitetail does out west.:snapoutofit:

boy if they could only create one or two parks in those areas they could just about shut them down for hunting another big feather in there hat.Was any of the land owners asks or just one more one more role of a dice? Iam guessing the number of mule deer doe tags while still remain in the life time to get draw allowing more time for the unblanced herds to increase until mother nature changes it with huge loses.What are they going to say when there are dead floating deer in the rivers and lakes in the heat of summer.ho l know theres been a out break of ecoli they are doin a study problem solved?????????:test::test::sHa_shakeshout:

will the priority change for those zones mentioned or will bowhunters just be able to hunt earlier starting whenever the zone opens typically for archery up until the zone closes for rifle?
