what make is it? My Jiffy broke and I started talking to small engine shoppes and they all wanted my first born in exchange for the work. I called Jiffy down in the states today and the part was $24.00 and it'll be here in a week. Give them a call at 1 (877)289.2313.... of course that's if it is in fact a Jiffy... If it's other than that, then I guess do what the other guy said. Hope it all works out. It stinks when your gear breaks down. We have so little winter here in Alberta:sHa_sarcasticlol:

Thanks for the tips guys. It is indeed a jiffy. I may try that as I can do all the work myself. Thanks again!

Did the rope just break, or was it something in the recoil? If you haven't pulled the recoil off to see, I would do that first. The knot inside could've pulled out and jammed up in there cause it to not rewind...

i pulled it off and everything inside that turns the crank broke off unfortunately.

Too bad, hope you can get the parts without too much hassle...

If it is older it should be tecumseh. Parts should be easy to find. Prob same engine on a push lawnmower.

If its an older Tecumseh u could be in trouble..tecumseh is no longer in busness. I think you can get after market reciol parts but you might have to find an older small engine shop that has older stock or a shop that carries used stuff.

I was wrong, Tecumseh parts still available, another company took them over so you shouldn't have an issue getting parts..at any small engine place.
