Hey all,

These past couple days saw many migratory salmon move in and boy are they hungry! Today every 2nd pass we had a nice Chinook on. Somehow (don't ask me how) my Dad managed to lose 4 real nice Chinook...including one HOG that almost spooled us!!!! Still got our limit of halibut no problem as usual.

Here are some attached pics from Saturday (the halibut ones) and today (salmon).

Best Wishes,
David

We fish out of Port Hardy. Not much secret to the hali's...just gotta know where they are and they will pretty much chomp on whatever you put in front of them. Octopus and salmon bellies work best. For the big ones you can use a whole Pink salmon head as well....just make sure your hooks are big enough to get through the head and still have enough hook left to nail the hali.

Here are some of the Chinook's we caught today, one of which is a Tyee (and it's only June 17th :O ) Our primetime isn't till July/August (August for the BIG BOYS)...also limited out on hali's but figured you guys didn't need to see any more of those

These guys are actually from Alberta...so it would be funny if some of you knew em.

I was just looking at the reel report for OBMG's operation at Kano Inlet, and they had two 200lb+ halibut brought in,as well as several 100lb+ halibut and many 30lb+ salmon over the past two weeks.Less than a month before our trip, and we can hardly wait.

don't hold to much faith in that reel report, oak bay been known to doctor up fishin reports. one year they claimed to be hammerin chinooks out of painters till I showed up and they just turned right off, maybe but maybe not

"Hammering chinooks at painters" hahahahahhaha That just doesn't happen...straight up. Campbell and Painters are deserted of chinooks...their definition of hammering chinooks must be much much different than any of ours.

I'm sure by hammering they meant 10 chinook between their 15 boats that were out!

It's easy to exaggerate when making generalizations, but it's not as easy to doctor things up when they give specific names and dates and show pictures.

Funny how that worksfishing is always best the day before I arrived. This year I booked for Hali with J&J Smart Charters out of deep creek Alaska they put up photos of every days catches on there site they come highly recomended. I realize it's called fishin not catching but just once I would like a great charter trip!

Oh yeah thanks for the pic's  I don't even know where my rant came from:ashamed: :D

But now and then you luck out and hit the good days.I went to Rivers inlet twice with OBMG and came away with 59,48,47 and 32lb salmon,as well as coho and some pinks.

Jamie-it was a long time ago,but my point was that even though a person always seems to just miss the bite,(you should have been here yesterday or last week)every now and then a guy does get lucky.
