What is the best colour of jig to be using right now?
And is maggots the best way to go

Once you get some perch use their eyes for bait.

Try all colors, start with chartruse. 1" long at most

colors they like can change daily so keep trying different jigs till u find one that works. When it comes to bait I myself use mealworms. break them in half an put the broke end off the end of the hook. the perch seem to like the little bits of entrails

Small all silver spoon with shrimp. I use a "chunky" good luck finding them, i bought 20 about 10 years ago, haven't seen them since.

Hook color has a fair bit to do with water color/clarity and the sunlight...overcast, snowcover.

white and a red head always for me it looks most natural and they only dont bite it when they aint biting if not yellow body red head but I get the best luck on an egg hook loaded with maggots

I'm looking to go icefishing for some perch tomorrow on shurburne reservoir east of lethbridge. Any pointers? I'm planing on just using some small flies I tied up. I know most ppl use mealworms, etc

Wouldnt call the red maggots new they have been out for years. .....Sometimes they work great!!!

Oh they just started selling them at the place I get my bait thats why I thought.

Anyway going to have to give em a try
