Trout and Bait

Hey I have a kinda slilly question I was at Veg pond today and I cuaght a few trout I thought i would keep a few as I have never keep trout from a pond befre . I was kleening them and the one had a belly full of corn I was using maggots . My question is can trout or any fish for that fact digest corn as I know humans can not . If trout can not digest corn will they strave to death with a full belly of corn ? I know pepole have been using corn for bait for years just had a thought thats all inquring minds want to know

Sounds like one study suggested it passes through the digestive tract just like our does.

I don't use corn for bait - I find powerbait or Cheese to be more effective.
