I have done 5 blades and no real sign of wear to stone. You do not need to take much off unless the blade is really bad
I also per file the V's in the ripper blades with a triangle file
I played with different ways to sharpen the blades and this seams to be best yet

I always did mine with a file, but I can see where your system would be superior as the angle is always constant. Reason I asked about the stone is that it looks and sounds like a water stone, they cut fast but wear fast as well. If it is a water the oil will plug it up quite quickly, the other thing about water stones is they can be flattened. Use very course sand paper on a flat surface, and soak everything with water, then rub the stone on the sand paper. If you mark the stones surface with a pencil you can see where the paper is cutting it. Very ingenious by the way, I like stuff like that, men makin stuff. LOL

Cool lookin rig. Thanks for posting. I had thought about how I was going to sharpen mine this spring before putting my gear away. I'm thinking that I'm just going to use a stone and some muscle but if I have some junk lying around I might give your model a go. :)

Very nice!!!! That is exactly what I figured the rig would like. Definitly making rednecks proud with that one.
Btw, I see you got the garage clean too! (cleaner anyways Lol!)

Well I finally had a chance to get the auger out with a set of blades I sharpened after we sanded them at Chester slue.
It worked great. Cut great and chipped were big.

Cool video, i just keep a file in my tackle box, couple swipes and it freshens up the blade but it doesnt last, your way would make for a nice edge for sure.

A blade will last a long time if you never hit dirty ice but like Chester sluuuuu lake the ice is very bad on blades.
Also known as sanding your blades
But like a shape knife always better
