Shed Buck Trail Cam Pic

Checked the trail cam yesterday up by athabasca and we got our first trail cam pic of a shed buck on the 29 of december. But he has a weird lump of what looks like snow hanging from his neck. Is it just snow sticking to the blood that is draining down or something else?

Probably formed while he was bedded down. I think it is probably just a lump of snow and is frozen to his fur but who knows.

Second pic it looks like a tracking collar box with a snow mass stuck to the outside, but I can't see an actual collar band in either pic to support that theory.
