Cut open a 7 lb pike once and found a duckling inside it. Feathers were pretty much digested, same with head. It was a big slime ball. The most distinguishing part of the duck left were the webbed feet. They could have been from a live duck, they looked perfect still. I guess the stomach juices hadn't broken them down yet.

The fish was once of those ones where you could tell something was inside it's stomach. Just a big ball under the belly. Still bit the hook though, so was still hungry!

We lived in a town home backing onto a pond in Indiana for a few years.

From our second story deck, overlooking the pond, we witnessed, on several occasions, bass grabbing ducklings.

Caught my biggest bass in there ...... a PB ........... also happened to be my very first bass.

Thought of trying to make something to this effect. Might make top water fishing a blast.

For a minute ....... I thought I knew you but didn't recognize your handle .......

then a thought occurred ........ I probably told this story here on the forum .....
:thinking-006:
Yes - the initial cast was from my 2nd story balcony, and subsequent hook set.

Then, in a panic, I yelled over to my wife, who was nine months pregnant to hold the rod until I ran down the stairs and out the door to land him .....

You almost had me there Pat ........

:bad_boys_20:

lol.

LOL I was thinking of who is it here that makes duck decoys , maybe he could make a couple dozen duckling decoys .

About 5 or 6 years ago now when Wabamun didnt freeze near town there in the winter I was fishing off the pier , and witnesses a huge pike take a grown goose under , there was the initial attack then goose came back up flopping feathers going everywhere , then back down and then maybe 1 or 2 more times then gone . That would of been to of been one huge pike . Wasnt the largest goose ive seen around but wasnt small either . Wish I had a camera that day . That was something me and fishing buddy at the time thought we would never see.

About 10 years ago I had a pickrel rig in the water at fisher's creek, wich lies just off Candle Lake, Saskatchewan. The sun was starting to set and the action was slow so I started to watch the wild life. My attention became centered on a squirrel across the creek that was making his way down a fallen tree that had landed in the creek. He made his way to the end of the tree and started munching on a pine cone. Could'nt have been 5 seconds later that what must have been a 20 pound pike launched over the tree and took the squirrel whole in one bite! I sat there stunned with what i just saw for what seemed like an eternity... then I'll be damned if I didnt see that same pike, pine cone in his mouth, swim top side back to the tree and put it back in the EXACT SAME SPOT.

true story.
