I'd like to take my 3 year old fishing at Chain lake (west of Nanton) tomorrow. Just wondering what the water clarity is like with all of the warm weather and runoff? Also, is there very much water and slush on top of the ice?

Not the hijack but I was thinking of going on Monday as well. Never fished there but thought I'd take my two boys out and try on the North end. Can you get a truck to the North Berm and walk from there? Or is it easiest to park on the highway and walk down. Avoiding the south end just to avoid the crowds.

And good luck to everyone this weekend!

You can drive up to the berm and then walk down. North or south end doesn't seem to matter as the fishing is good at both ends and everywhere in between.

I ussually fish about 50 feet out from the boat launch and have good luck as long as the water isn't muddy. That's why I was looking to see if anyone knew how the water clarity was.

Thanks for the info Tippie, appreciate it. Sorry I can't help about the water condition. The other latest info I found on Chain was here

If I am not mistaken I think the annual family day kids fish tourny is on this weekend at Chain.

Don't think I would fish the far north end, not a lot of luck there at least not when I was trolling in the summer.

How are the snow levels near Chain?

Are the hillsides bare? Looking at the AMA cameras a little further south, looks like it is pretty bare. Any advice is appreciated.

Fish the south end of the lake. Powerbait, worms, maggots on small jig heads works great.

Good luck!
