Hey Everyone

I finally got my second knife and sheath completed.

3/16" 1084 Steel
Tigerwood scales
Red liners and 1/8" brass pins

The leather sheath is also made from scratch by me.

Thanks for looking.

Brett

VERY nice. What kind of steel is the blade made from?

Very nice, something to pass on for some generations. You did a nice job of the pics as well. How many hours?

Are you cutting the shape then grinding?
I wanted to get into forging my own knives! I need to make a forge and get a hold of an anvil.

Nice work!!

That sure is a beautiful piece of work!

Could be a fun way to make a couple of extra bucks, I'm sure more than a few would be willing to pay for one of those!

Nice work!!

Thanks Trapper.

I draw a design, profile the outline with a hacksaw and hand files, then bevel the primary bevels with hand files. I am not really in a place to hammer away on an anvil. I told myself that the first few would be done by hand with limited power tools. Then, I will build a grinder. The forge is pretty simple. Just don't make it too big. Let me know if you have any questions. I might be able to save you some grief in getting started.

Thank you all for the compliments. I have loved making my knives and sheaths. Someday, I'll have to start giving them away, probably about the time my wife is fed up with them littering the house.

It's hard to say....maybe 30-40 hours but that includes some trial and error as well as building a forge.

Got pics of the forge, and did you grind a few lines before you started the file work?

Thank you for the compliment and the critique. I left enough to get two fingers solidly on the handle. My thoughts on sheaths is to the protect knife and user. If the handle is made of something more ornate then I would leave more to see. Since the Tigerwood was nothing spectacular I designed the sheath more for protection.

I appreciate input and criticism from everyone in regards to the knives I post. Eventually I will sell a few to cover my expenses and I need to know what is liked and disliked by those that look for a custom knife.

Thank you again

Brett
