QUESTION:

Are you allowed to drill into a river?

Regulations state in the eastern slopes it is unlawful to ice fish into flowing waters. Nothing in prairie parkland

Well lots more bites a few hooked momentarily none up to the hole though. Still loving the change up to the river fishing.

Never landed one but had a few hits and a few that were on for short periods. Lots of bites were when we downsized the minnows

I don't believe you are allowed to drill in ANY rivers with ice in Alberta...but could be wrong...

Sorry, just checked, you are right...no holes permitted in ES 1 for flowing waters, rest of Alberta is open.

Stay safe out there and have fun

Just a question but are there Goldeye in The Bow during the winter? I remember reading that they often migrate further than salmon to overwintering water. The same goldeye that one catches in Devon may have spent xmas in Sascatchewan. I know the number of goldeye I catch out of the Lesser Slave River are deffinatly greater mid summer than early or late in the season, I remember the Goldeye fishing around Edmonton following a similar pattern.

Well I can't guarantee they were goldeye as I didn't ice any just the way the bites were seemed that way. Except a few hits bent the rod right down
