To save a bunch of reading through bird forums......what set up is the best??

I have an 80mm Swaro hd spotter.

What is the best set up for attaching a camera?

What camera is the best?

Considerations for the camera is it must be "smallish". A bonus would be able to take reasonable quality video with commentary.

You will benefit with a cool thread after this years Canol hunt. Sheep, moose caribou, grizz, wolf, wolverine and ptarmachickens will be menu :happy0034:

I would suspect the swaro adapter would be tailor made for your scope, I got into digiscoping many years ago now and haven't kept up on it but the main things then was shutter speed, solid tripod and remote shutter. The ability to freely spot and quickly swing the camera in saved precious time on birds ect.
post your stuff Id love to see it when your set up...chain

I was looking at some digiscoping set-ups and google led me to the "rokslide" forums...it's another hunting forum....bunch of kifaru freaks they are...some of the set-ups they run are backpack hunter friendly...check 'em out.

Were you on the canol rd on the NWT side? My bother and I drove up it to Dragon lake on the Yukon side, but there were hunting parties at every lake. It was also 20 degrees and we saw jack squat! Looking forward to your stories.

The Outdoorsmen down here is working on an I-phone adapter to fit spotting scopes.

http://shop.outdoorsmans.com/main.sc

Last time I was in there they were still working on getting it perfected.

Now only if you would have had this set up when you were looking at that desert ram, huh?

That was the straw that broke the camels back

After watching ol' whathisnames video on the wall of the tent......I gotta get more serious about recording some of this stuff. Wish I would have started years ago :ashamed:

Thanx for the link Brutha :happy0180:

In the video I posted above, I was using an iPhone and an iPhone adapter with my cheap Bushy spotter to take the video ;)

Looks like the kowa fits swaro Zeiss vortex etc read here

Then in the chat at bottom find recommendation to this website, they look like hunters maybe...should be able to get whatever we want in time, seems like they could be new and getting started.

i bought the vortex azr 20-60x85 with the digiscoping adaptor.

if you are any good at photography and if you ver swng by edmonton, i'll let you try it, so far i can`t do anything wth that setup.

spotting scope is awesome, trid it without the camera(main use anyway) and its nice, crisp and clear.

the spottng scope adaptor hold good, it does the job pretty good.

camera itself is a nikon t3i dslr, takes nice photos.

it just doesnt work when you put both together :( picture is dark and flou, soehow it always need more lighting but there is never enough light to take a good picture. maybe its the scope. . . .who knows.
