Only my second time ice fishing and we are going to try out Eagle Lake. Any advice? Don't need your secret spots but are there better areas of the lake than others? Where is the best access? Anyone know what the ice conditions are? Can we drive on?

Thanks for any help you can offer!
Mike

Yeah Eagle Lake is just east of Strathmore. I picked it for it's location between my Brother in law and myself.

Never had any luck on Eagle. In fact, I have never had a bite or even seen a fish. I know they are there, but I like most, have not been able to locate them.

If you do a search on here, there is some info on the lake. And IIRC the south side is the place to fish near the bridge.

By the way, the lake smells bad so be ready for that. I think its from all the cattle farms around and the fertilizer.

It smells 100x worse in the summer. That lake is disgusting... Have a buddy that fishes it often, catches a few but doesn't ever keep any.

Fished Eagle both Saturday and Monday. Saturday was crazy!! 5 of us fishing and brought well over two dozen smaller pike, 2 10lbs pike and a 43cm walleye. Yesterday 4 little pike, and two legal pike. Access is off Hwy 1, bout 3 clicks east of Strathmore. Watch for the tree farm sign. Ice is well over 2 feet. Everyone is driving on.

Thanks for the info y'all. Is it actually a bad idea to eat the fish out of the lake? I am not really going to keep, just want to get a fish on the line. Got skunked my first time out. Looking to get some photo trophies.

Do you go onto the water at the RV Park?
