Is the fat fish worth 200$ more than the command post? Looking to purchase either one looking for input from owners.

All depends in how much room and features you need in a tent. Hoping Eskimo got all the problems from the first gen Fatfish tents fixed, cuz I bought a 9416 last night. Wholesale sports $389.

Fishin Hole also has the Quickfish 6 on for $299. I'd buy a Quick fish 6 over a Clam Command Post. Quickfish models are proven to be reliable, taking my chances with the Fatfish though.

My 949 has taken a good beating in the last couple of years.

If it's not windy, I normally don't anchor it to the ice. Wind picks up in a hurry here and i've had to chase it a few times as it's tumbled down the ice. It's never broken.

I just got the Clam because it was such a ridiculosly good deal. I set it up on the ice yesterday and was totally satisfied...love all the extra room. I will enjoy it for years as it seems to be really put together well.

Honestly, I think you will be happy either way...but if I had to pick, I would like the little bit of extra room in the Fatfish. But I just could not justify the extra $$$$.

All you have to do is check the thicknes of the side walls and you will chose the clam.

Well....today was my first time trying to put the Clam up in a windy mess. Not easy at al. And I will say this: the buckle and strap anchiring system iside the Clam sucks! the cheap buckles will not hold any serious tension needed to hold the tent down.

I will definitely be looking for some sort of mod to improve the anchoring.

I did like the 4 inch straps that had grommets in them which were sown into the corners of my old tent. I may try and do something like that on the Clam..

One further bit of info...

I just got off the phone with Cabela's. I called to ask where the ice anchor tool that fits into your cordless drill was that was supposed to be included with my Command Post.

Apparently, the Canadian tents never had the tool included with them. I told them that I was looking at the Clam website as I was speaking to them and that the tool is listed as included with the tent. It was one of the factors that helped decide which tent to buy.

The manager will be checking with her product specialist on Monday to see what the scoop is...but said that she thinks they were just giving $15 refunds off the price of the tents. Coincidentally, the price on the Clam site for an anchoring tool? $15. She also said that they have received numerous calls on this...which made me think, "Hmmm....you obviously knew this was an issue but never mentioned it before."

So if you buy one of these tents...or any other Clam for that matter, check to see if the tool is included and ask for the refund/credit if you don't receive it.

If its windy, I just tie the tent to the truck. Good Idea to tie to truck first before popping it up. Usualy I don't go fishing when its realy windy tho.
