So I'm tying for spring and my next whitefish trip.

And I figured..... Why not bead head on the wireworms?

People have done this before yes?

Just wondering

Just a quick question, and I understand if you don't want to answer but here goes. Do you fish these vertically or horizontally?

Just see that you are very successful with the whitefish and was interested to know.

I always fish my wire worms horizontally. I have been using one with a bead head as my go to lure on whites this year as a matter of fact...

I got into the whites last week, really big ones... I think people don't target them much down south like they do up round Edmonchuck.

Anyways... My buddy and I experimented with brass, copper, red copper, and various chronomids (we brought our fly boxes)..

Strangely ... They would only hit the brass... And only if it was horizontal . We had a couple of guys with finders and Marcums beside us and the fish were all over.
But I was the only one catching ... So I shared what I had and there began... Quite the killing!

Good time by all.

I dang well missed two real brutes at the hole.

So... I figured brass copper and copper brass combos might be interesting.

I have been tying mine w/snell to achieve the horizontal effect but this is tough to do on the ice when changing colors often.

Any particular knots you are using to accomplish this consistently?
Specifically on the ice.

Twist minimum 5-7 times

Through the bottom loop, tighten ang angle line as desired.

Using tiemco 2x shank , sizes 10-14

X2! I love copper and brown or blue bead. I have only been there once but explored a lot, drilling around 25 holes from brownlows all the way over to aspen beach until we got into some good fishing. Atomic wireworms are good addition to anyone's tackle box.

When you say horizontal do you mesn @ 90 degree angle to your line?

Could be the line I'm using but that never works for me with that knot or anything but a snell.

90 to the line.

I use 6 pound test

4 is probably better

These fish are big on the visuals

Doesn't work for me, knot is not tight enough to hold in any angle.
