We are heading to the big island of Hawaii staying in the kona area for 2 weeks at the end of march. Anyone ever fish there? Any charter recommendations? I've fished in Maui, Mexico and Cuba but never in Kona.

Just got back saturday, tried to get out three days in a row, sustained winds of 40 mph( 9 days in a row) brutal winds not normal they say, can't see going back, nice place to far to go back for the uncertain weather if i need wind burn again I can go to pincher creek much cheaper.

I'm heading to Kona Thursday but will be hanging out on Hilo side for a month. I've taken a fishing charter from Hilo side that was a good outfit. We did a fishing charter from pohiki to lava flow and back when the lavas flowing it's an amazing sight and worth it for that alone. I think the lava is flowing good right now. I'm sure there are more charters from Kona side. Pohiki boat launch is sketch. It's a boat launch and surf spot, a few boats go down there every year.
Have fun. Big island is awesome.
