I will be most likely heading out Sunday as I have to work Saturday. Stupid day job gets in the way of fishing all the time

Lots of good thick ice, but the bite is really slow today. Havnt seen much perch on the cam. Talked to 3 other people and they are calling done for today. We have caught one jack and two perch. Of the perch only one over 9 inches. Pike was smaller.

Lots of good thick ice

the top 6" of ice there was already white and soft a couple weeks ago.

24" ice can still eat your truck whole if its rotten.

This time of year + weather = drill a test hole. Ice disappears from bottom up remember

I was out on Wednesday and the ice seemed pretty good. About 18" thick. Top 2-4" is starting to get a bit rotten. Some cracks starting. Still lots of trucks out there.

I was out yesterday (March 9, 2013), and the ice is in good shape. There is about 30" in total with the top 4-6" being white ice. I was about 600m off of the launch and drilled 50+ holes. The bite was dead slow and only yielded 4 fish. I only stayed from 7am-11am.

Many people were still driving on including driving across the lake to the other side. If I spent another day out there I would have driven across to try some of the points. This time of year they may have better success with small bugs hatching in the sticky bottom areas at the bottom of the break.

Here is a short video from the day:

Out here right now. No slush at all and the ice is solid. Sorry man, but as exciting as that would be, i just don't see anyone going through today. Now if the perch would start biting... Pretty slow out here especially after the fast paced excitement of yesterdays burbot extravaganza

First time ever Out at nak today by Macdonald park. In the black/grey/red rapala. So far nothing. But everyone is on the other side. Am I missing something?

The other side isn't much better than where you are but you can give it a try. If I don't catch something in a half hour I try somewhere else. Once you find them set up at that spot. By the island is worth a try. GL! :)

Just had my first sighting. We're in about 5 feet not incl ice by the island now. This is my third ice trip ever and my skunk streak continues.

There may be some good slightly used gear for sale this spring lol

I think it might have something to do with 300 people on the ice every sat and sun since it was drivable. Hence why no one says where they catch REAL perch. Just my 2 cents

There are away too many perch in Nakamun and the more people taking them out the merrier IMO.

I def agree. Too many is what is stunting their growth. I bet no one has caught one bigger then 11" outta there this year. They needed to be thinned out.

Well, that's 3 trips for me this year. Two at mons, one at nakamun. Seen one 7 incher and a handful of 3-4 inchers. No nibbles, no bites, no catches. I suck lol.

I can't wait till summer when I pull up a jack every other cast.

But seriously, I must be using ****e lures or going at the wrong times or something.

The perch out at Nakamun are finicky sometimes and other times you catch 10 an hour. I haven't figured them out yet.....lol! :)
