It should be close to that time of the year again. Anyone seeing any evidence of the burbot spawn nearing or underway? I know a few years ago we hit the burbot spawn at Gull, then fished Slave a week later and none of burbot had spawned yet....

What are people seeing right now?

I see. Interesting on the timing and location of each lake. They had not started spawning yet at Slave as of last weekend.

Seen 5 burbs at pigeon today on the camera, 1 jack, and a ton of whites.


Not a single walleye yet. :(

I have tried fishing Burbs for the past 2 months and have had zero success. Am at Crawling valley right now with tip ups from 4 ft to 7andabit Ft. Spawn or no spawn this blows.

Try a double tail mister twister... If they are in spawn they'll hit it hard. They're very hungry in Gull right now. We're chasing whites but we can't keep the burbs off our hooks... Unfortunately we can't keep them but they're still fun to catch. :)

Got 10 or so yesterday, they are still packing eggs. However the four we kept, released the eggs during the skinning process, so I'm guessing any day now they will spawn. We fished a lake just a little north east of Edmonton, we caught them in 30' of water. Glo jigheads with minnows worked great.

How can you tell if they've spawned or not? If you're catching them without eggs or sperm they've spawned?

Tried the sunset bite on the OMD yesterday

Lost three

One would have gone +10 pounds!
