View Full Version : Good day at Chesterslough

Jbeers finally dragged me out to his spot on Chesterslough for my first time ice fishing for pike in AB.

We got a few 30", a 35" and a bunch under 30".

Not bad for a couple hours in the afternoon.

All fish were caught in less than 3 feet of water.

It was a nice touch to blur our faces, but did you really have to blur the faces of the fish? Yours was a hog.

nicely done guys ...whats the ice thickness there right now?
I've never ice fished it before ...but I do know the spring pike spawn can be wild

wow, those are pigs for the slough, I haven't fished out there for years, stopped going after not catching anything of size out there. I remember I went to their tournament in the summer about 5-6 years ago and I caught the fourth biggest pike, 23 inches, the biggest was I believe 26 or 27 inches... what were you using for bait?

Lmao! Can't say I've ever seen anyone blur the fish's face. :P Those are some nice catches!

Great, now everyone will know about the awesome fishing there, it'll be fished out in 4 days. There goes my lake X honey hole.....

The big ones hang out in a certain spot that is impossible to access unless it is on ice or with a boat. We did pretty well yesterday. I got a sunburn. All fish were safely released. Get out and catch them before the ice melts.

I imagine the water in Chester would affect the taste of the fish? Those pike are the worst smelling fish.

Yeah ... lol.....

BeeGuy blurred out the Pike's faces so we wouldn't recognize the pike - if you look closely at them, you can recognize them like people and find out in what neighborhood they live.

All the big pike with "street cred" and "hard looks" are from the east side .... you can tell because they always stare you down with atitude.

I have caught and detained, only to release a few of these trouble makers.

BeeGuy is protecting thier "reps" ........

...... he's street smart that way .....

Thanks for posting. Can't wait to eat the pike there!

I sorta hope you're kidding, that lake is pretty dang filthy, when I see guys windsurfing/wakeboarding I shake my head as I wouldn't want to fall/swim/ possibly accidentally drink any water when you fall. Eating something out of there would be about the last place on my list for places to catch dinner... :sick:

ya the water comes from the bow river just down stream from the zoo
