ice couldve been 20 inches thick by the shore, but where the current is it could be 6 inches

So why would you risk it and drive on??

Its hardly a mistake, its just shear stupidity. ITS APRIL!!!!

Wes hit the nail on the head here. Driving on in April is a stupid move. If they are driving on areas that have current in April well then we have a real winner here.

Maybe they thought that since its a reservoir that it doesn't have current. Or maybe they just are inexperienced with ice fishing and ice conditions.

I would hate to be the tow truck driver that pulled it out. That has to be scary...

I wonder if there are stories of tow truck drivers going to rescur a vehicle and then ended up going through the ice themselves?

i remember years ago a story in the journal about a towing co. having to send 2nd tow truck out to pull first one out at lake eden that broke through attempting to pull car out.

That sucks. Doesn't give u much confidence in the towing company.

Sigh....I am hoping I could see open water in the future. Heck -10 with the wind and snow here in Manitoba. We still have about 3'-4' of ice on our lakes.

Thickness of ice means nothing at this time of year when it can be the consistency of a slurpee.
