Is true or false ?
I called ESRD and got confirmation that the Federal Fisheries act was re written and there were no provisions for barbless hooks, so until the Federal law is changed, there will be no enforcement of the barbless laws in Alberta. The changes were made in September 2011, and the Government in Alberta found out about this change in October 2012. Apparently about 530 people have been ticketed and they plan to drop charges, and repay fines.
We can use barbs again until this legislation is changed Federally - See more at: http://albertasportsman.com/alberta-sport-fishing/barbed-hook-rule-change/#sthash.YlStK1dU.dpuf
