Hi fellow AOF'rs!

I am hoping this is the right form and you can help me fix a stupid mistake I did.

I have 1980's something 2HP Johnson trolling motor. Last year we tried to start it after many many years sitting in storage. The pull string snapped on the 2nd pull. Thinking it would be an easy fix, took the top of the motor off and a retaining nut, and well..... a coiled up spring unloaded and un-spooled the entire pull string. :sign0161:

So I need to find a good reputable shop in Calgary that can fix it, but also show me how to replace it. Tried a place today in the foothills, willing to fix it for a fair price, but says they do not reveal how they fix em.

I am willing to pay to have it done and learn at the same time.

I also have a 1980 something 20HP Evinrude in near mint condition; I assume it will be the same basic assembly. This is something I probably should know how to do taking it out on the water. "Just in case"

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Sometimes doing a search on Google will answer many how too questions. Some posters will also post a video along with the directions. U-tube may be another good source to search for a how to video. Good luck with the spring and rope rewind.
