I have an Lowrance 350a (yes it is old but works great) with 2 transducers and a speed censor mount on the left side of the boat. On the right side is my 8hp trolling motor. I want to install a 2nd fish finder (Hummingbird 570) in the front of the boat. My question is can I mount the transducer on the same side of the transom as my lowrance? Will the traducers interfere with each other. If mounted on the other side will the trolling motor interfere with the transducer.

Running 2 transducers of the same frequency will generate interference. You can minimize it in shallow water by having one off the TM at the bow and one off the stern. It helps a little by going with a 50-83mhz ducer and a 200. Also can change ping speed as well. But you can still expect some to a lot of interference. The effect more noticeable in deeper water.

I still have my 350a with GPS they are good units.:)

Thanks I might have just run one at a time. the Hummingbird is for when I am up front fishing or using the bow mounted trolling motor.

My original 350a was starting to fail a couple of years back and I found a guy in the states that was refurbishing them with upgraded internals. Picked it up for around $100.00 delivered to my door. Was nice to just pull the old head off and put the new one on and plugin.

Sweet.

It wont hurt to run both and see how it plays out.

If you are running two different frequencies you should have no trouble.

Your 570 will run a dual beam at 83 kHz and 200 kHz simultaneously. It can also be run independently.

Your 83 kHz setting will give you a wider 60 degree one (roughly where the depth of water will equal your bottom coverage in max. diameter.

The 200 kHz setting will give you a 20 degree cone which translates to 1/3rd of your depth versus coverage BUT will give you better target separation and resolution.

Your Lowrance 350a will run at both 50 khz and 192 kHz - although the principles are the same your cone will only range from 8 degrees to a max setting of 20 degrees on this older unit.

The best thing to do is put them both on the boat and mount the transducers as far apart as practical - and experiment ........

Although the frequencies are similar - they may not interfere if there is enough space separating both of them - if they do - choose a different frequency on each unit ..... and see what works best for you.

Funny these things are still wanted even though they are like 10+ years old.
