Slick Trick or G5 Striker??

After doing some more research I've decided to go with a fixed blade broadhead again this year instead of a mechanical. I shot muzzy's last year and didnt really like them so this year ive narrowed it down to the slick tricks and the G5 Striker. Has anyone here shot the striker? some people are saying its sharper than the slick tricks but I havent heard much about them.

Love the Slick Tricks or the Montecs.....both are very reliable broadheads and have shot great from my bow....

While I must say I've yet to harvest anything with my bow I've shot both the montecs and slick tricks with my preference leaning to the tricks they fly better outta my bow, with more consistent groups an IMO are way sharper right outta the pack.

wac ems are another good option aswell, they shoot great out of my bow

I shoot slicktricks, and have taken a number of animals with them.
I found, like many others, they just fly best with my bow.

I've used both the Slick Tricks and G5 Montecs, (not the strikers) and found just the opposite. I never did get the Slick's to fly as well as I have the G5's flying right now. Here's the kicker, I'm not done working on the G5's yet, I'm positive I can get better groups than what I'm getting right now. (1.5" @ 20 yds.) the slicks never did better than 3" @ 20.

For my money, I'll take a good mechanical every time. Jak Hammers, Snypers, Spitfires, to name a few. Large wound channels and short explicit blood trails are typically the case. Let us know what you decide.

Started out shooting slick tricks last year and ended up shooting G5 montecs by the end slick tricks shot good out of the box. G5's took some tuning but got them working well. This year I'm shooting sonic 85gr pro's and from what I have found is you can screw one on and shoot it. They dont need to be timend you dont have to tune just shoot. In my eyes so far they are best cut on contact bh I have shot and between me and two other guys we have 13 different types of heads.

#1 choice for fixed is Montec
#2 choice for mech. is rage (2 or 3 blade)

for me anyhow, my criteria goes like this.....cut on contact, next is....whats best to shoot from a blind with netting?....

end result....montecs are my broadhead, like the others say, it has it all, cut on contact, tough, accurate.....and its also just plain sexy....sexy usually means expensive and the montecs are definitely expensive;):D

steer those suckers on some top arrows like carbon express cx300's with some blazer vanes and you've got a rockin combo!

slick tricks for me flew too noisy(sound like a torn fletch), accuracy was ok, and they didn't seem to penetrate as well, not cut on contact for one but i believe the 4 blades at super steep angles really slow them down in game or targets.....just not a fan after trying them....step up to the montec now and you'll likely save yourself money in the long run......

I have shot many different types of heads over the years, and had all sorts of results. Started out with fixed blades when I started bowhunting 16 years ago, never really knew all that much at the time and had decent flight. When the Spitfires came out I tried them out, they flew great, and I shot a Bull Elk with them, lodged in the far rib on a 1/4ing shot. Shot some bears with them as well, but never really got the penetration I wanted. Switched to the Rockets, smaller hole of 1 1/8 but got really good penetration with them, but didn't like the elastics, and found the blades to be very wobbily in flight from the noise. Tried out the Thunderheads, and the G5 Strikers. I got really good flight out of the Strikers, and there is only about 3" difference between my field points. So I have been shooting them for a couple years now and really like them. I like the cut on contact of the Strikers and the replacement blades. They are very sharp out of the box as well, some of the sharpest i have seen.

well I ended up going with the slick tricks. They both seemed to be great broadheads and the slick tricks were cheaper so I went with em. I cant wait to see how they do on deer :)

I've used a lot of different broadheads over the last 22 years, including the mechanicals. The last few years I had been using the 4 blade 100 gr muzzys. I tried the slick tricks last year and accuracy was a little better than the muzzy's so that is what's in my arsenal now.

Yeah I used the 3 blade muzzy's and didnt really like them that much. They wern't the sharpest, and the chisel point used to unscrew in my quivers and stuff all the time. Once I knocked an arrow, then on further examination realized that the point came off and all the blades were gone! Good thing i didnt shoot that thing at a deer :S

Never had any problems like that with the muzzy's. I have taken many big game animals (elk, moose, bear) with the muzzy:cool: and I found its performance outstanding. The only reason I switched is because the accuracy of the "slick tricks" was a bit better.

I have never shot slicktricks but i have shot a bunch of different broadheads,
I tried muzzys and i was not impressed with them at all,I found THE BEST all around broadhead for grouping,accruracy,and durability is the MONTEC G5.I just sighted in my bow for broadheads and i was cutting fletchings at 60 yards.I Feel very confident to shoot 60 yards with know problems.

In fact i shot my buck last year at 62 yards compleate passthrough.He only went 30 yards and piled up.I have shot a whitey the last 4 years,I shot
one at 27 yards,38 yards,43 yards&62 yards and one doe at 20 yards. Now the impressive thing about all that was i shot 4 of those deer with the same broadhead and arrow.That right there tells a pretty good story in itself about the montec broadhead.I love them and you will too.:wave:
