What does a guy from Alberta need to do in order to fish in BC over the long weekend? Anyone know if the Shushwap is any good for fishing this time of year?

Bee is a big meany .:) you will need a bc fresh water licence. I belive you will need tags for lakers and bows . You will be too early for salmon . Other waters have differnt regs tags depending on where and what lives in each lake.read bc regs (very tricky for the uninitated.
Good luck .

Buy the licence as mentioned. Special fees if you plan on keeping any Shuswap rainbows. I'm not 100%sure if there are any classified waters involved, check carefully, but that would require another special charge.

Shuswap is good, yes you need tags for lakers and rainbows only if you plan to keep them. And it's 1 a day and size limits as well. Headed out there on Thursday for 5 days. Pm me if you like and let me know where you will be going and I will try and help you out with locations and lures.

Keep in mind that most rivers and streams are closed until June 15th. Lake fishing only until then.

just came back from mara lake fishing was great I was using a pink apex and trolling from 10 to 20 feet but I also was trolling with no line weight at 1 foot was catching some decent rainbows and off course some pike minnows.

make sure single hooks and no barbs.

I buy my bc license on line and I do buy a shuswap rainbow tag for 20 bucks just in case I get that big one.

limit one over 50 or I say 20 inches per day. 5 per fishing season only and make sure to record fish on your license.

fishing is always good in the shuswap. if you have a downrigger go deep and you might get lucky and get the big one.

Good luck and tight lines........................later
