Canmore day trip ideas

I’ll be making a day trip from Calgary to Canmore this weekend taking Hwy 1A and I need some suggestions for a killer spot to stop and try out for about an hour or two. I’ll be on a motorcycle packing a collapsible casting rod with only a few lures (rapala, mepps spinner, 5 of diamonds) and no bait.

Any suggestions of where to stop by and try a few casts from the shore while taking a break from the seat? I’ve seen Gap Lake on the way via Google Maps but other posts and reviews claim there are a few, smart, monster browns and not much action there for only an hour of fishing.

Any location ideas for my setup would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, so reading most of the posts regarding Canmore I'm basically looking for a list of "don't bother" type locations. I'm mainly thinking of stopping my Quarry lake, and not sure which might be better, the old quarry lake location on the west side or the bigger pond to the east?
