Well today I finaly did it, I succeeded in getting my 3 year old daughter hooked on fishing. She's come allong on all our fishing trips since she was a baby, last year she caught a couple fish but mostly she just liked to try to feed worms to the fish in the livewell.

This morning it was raining off and on so we just headed down to the river for some shore fishing. I tossed out some slip sinker rigs for me and my wife and then just helped my daughter. I rigged up an ice fishing rod with a split shot and a bare hook, I baited the hook with a marshmallow for floatation, and a minnow. Either me or my wife would just toss it out for her and let her reel it back in, sticking real close to lend a hand when she hooked somthing. I'm not sure if it was the slow, drift and reel presantation or just begginers luck but she just hammered those fish! My wife and me caught and released a few pike and walleye but my daughter could hardly make a cast without catching somthing, including these two walleye that we're going to have for supper with corn and macaroni salad, Man I love summer in Slave Lake!

I miss summers on lesser slave. Nothing like trolling in front of the beach hammering walleye and taking in the sights. Congrats on the new angler in the family the memories will be with you both forever.

LOL, I've said the same thing a few times. Nothing better than having a 50 fish evening while creeping on the bikinis. Except helping your daughter reel in a particularly fiesty pike, asking her if she's ready to go home, and getting "I wanna catch another fish" as an answere.

What an awesome story Cal! I let my 3 year old daughter(2 at the time) reel in a trout at the local pond last year and she had a blast! Can't wait to get her out with me this year. Nothing more rewarding. She always plays with my bait and fish when I bring them home:) (sorry not trying to jack your thread)

Both little girls in this thread are too cute! They're so lucky to have great dads who get them out there and teach them how to fish. :)
